10 Tips on How to Best Prepare for the BIG Day

Photography by Jazmine Rubio

First things first, planning a wedding can seem a little overwhelming {trust us, we do it for a living}. We’ve come up with our top 10 tips that will prepare you and your fiance for the BIG Day.

Start Planning Early

The earlier you start planning, the easier and less stressful it will be as your day approaches. Having a clear plan before you start will help you keep on top of everything and you won’t forget something important. A rough guest count and a budget should be the first when starting to plan.

Set the Budget and STICK TO IT

Make sure you have a budget that everyone can agree with. Once you have a budget set, you and your fiance can then determine which expenses are top priority. Without a budget, you can lose track of spending. Don’t forget to account for additional costs like dress alterations, gifts, and beauty expenses.

Create Your Guest List

Sit down with your fiancé and both of you should come up with your guest list. Creating your guest list early is important because it will help you focus on finding the perfect venue that can cater your number of guests. The cost per head of your guests will most likely be your biggest expense, so don’t feel pressured into inviting people you don’t want to come.

Book the Best Photographer You Can

Your wedding photos is how you will relive all the cherished memories of your big day. Do some research and find someone who will capture exactly what you want. Having the best photographer should be a top investment. Don’t underestimate the importance of a good photographer.

Make a Priority List

Decide with your fiancé and figure out the most important aspects of your wedding. If it’s the venue, the food or the DJ, prioritizing these details will help compromise with the rest and help stay within your budget.

Give the Groom His Own Responsibilities

Your fiancè may not have been planning his wedding since he was five, but he will have his own ideas and opinions for the big day. Remember it’s his day too! Most guys like to get involved with the menu, music and his own apparel!

Choose Your Best Girls/Guys

Your bridal party {bridesmaids & groomsmen} should be your biggest support throughout the planning process, so choose wisely. They are there to make things easier and it’s nice to get a second opinion.

Recruit Help

Although it’s your big day, your friends and family are more than willing to help in the planning. You can then give everyone roles and responsibilities, even if it’s help with decorations.

DIY Strategically

DIY-ing decorations can be cost beneficial and can add a personal touch to your big day. Try to be careful and not add too many things to your to-do list. Pick DIY projects that can be taken care of well in advance like wedding favors and table numbers.

Finalize Details

Hopefully with starting the planning early, you won’t have to rush to get everything finalized. At least 2 weeks prior to the wedding, sit down with your Husband-To-Be and call your venue and vendors to finalize all the details. Make sure your bridal party and family members {who are helping with the planning} are on board with all the details!
